Hypothesis:

Hello = Communication, Communication = Body Language

 

Body Language refers to forms of non-verbal communication, wherein a person reveals clues as to some unspoken intention or emotion through their physical behavior.

 

Body Language

-Communicator (send out/ receive)

-Mode (Facial/Body movement/ Tone of Voice)

-Control(Voluntary control,/ Involuntary control)

-Concodance(All modes send messages in concordance/ Discordance=Lie)

 

Concept

Facial Body Expression vs Media Communication

The project explores relationship between Non Verbal Communication (Facial Body Expression) and Media communication. It presents both similiarities and diffferences in these characteristics, creating strong visual patterns and connection.

 

소리없는언어(바디랭게지)는 안녕의 단어에 한 부분이라고 생각한다. 우리의 표정하나하나가 새로운 뜻을 사람에게 messeage를 send, receive를 한다. 뻔한 일상속에 일어나는 우리의 생활 패턴 안녕이란 인사, 손만흔들어도 전달되는 안녕이라는 단어 의미, 보는 이에게 새로운 관점에서 미디어의 언어로 전달하고 싶다.

This group exhibition’s main theme is Hello. According to Wikipedia, Hello is a salutation or greeting in the English languages. Secondly, when student learn a new computer programming language will often begin by writing a “Hello, world!” program, which outputs that greeting to a display on screen. For the Apple DOS HELLO program is specified as a parameter of the INIT command used to format a floppy disk. Therefore, “Hello” is frequently used to begin and basic a conversation in our community and computer program.

Before I go beyond the project, I did short mind mapping in word “Hello”.

From this mind mapping process, I realized that I used the word of moment and memories repeatedly. In my point of view, I believe that Hello is the word represent communication and like a starting point bell in our society. These are covering our moment of life. Recently, people started to twit photography about the happiness moment in their life. It is interesting how people could communicate their moment of memories without men to men communication. There were tons of photography from the world, such as their wedding kiss photography, first meeting with their grandson, and say hello to Iraq Army. Within that, I thought memories and moment are the word or motion without word communication. This one photography could communicate with people beyond the word of Hello. The word of Hello can express two emotion, happiness and sadness. Beyond that, the word hello is sending good or bad message without expression to other.

마인드 맵핑을 하면서, 내가 생각하는 헬로우라는 뜻을 정확하게 알수 있었다. 내가 생각하는 헬로우라는 뜻은 사람과 사람의 커뮤니케이션 그리고 새로운 시작점이라고 정의를 내릴수 있었다. 이 모든 것들이 사람이 인생의 한 부분을 차지할수 있단 생각도 할수 있게 되었다. 그러므로, 나는 헬로우란 뜻이 단순 생활에서 인사하는 언어라고 생각하지 않고, 사람과 사람의 시작점, 즉 사람이 새로운 시점을 시작할수 있는 계기라고 생각한다. 헬로우는 단순한 언어가 아닌, Body Language의 일부분이기도 하다.

요즘 들어 SNS를 통해 전 세계 사람들의 가장 행복한 순간을 담은 사진들을 공개 및 공유하고 있다. 폐와 심장 수술을 한 후 부인이 깨어난날만 기다리는 사람의 사진, 예일대 하키 챔피언십 대회 우승 기념의 감격 사진, 조부모님가 첫 증손주를 만났던 날, 결혼식에서 키스하던 사진 등등, 각 사람들은 자신들이 제일 소중하고 행복하게 기억하고 있는 그 memories & moment를 사람들은 말이 없는 언어로 사람들에게 전달하고 있다. 사람은 과거의 일을 기반으로 새로운 출발을 하기도 하고, 많은 일을 계기로 사람이 성장한다는 애기를 얼핏 책에서 읽기도 하고 나이 많으신 어른들로 부터 자주 들었던 말 중에 하나이다.  세상에 처음 태어난 아이에게 안녕이란 말을 하고, 세상을 떠나는 사람에게도 안녕이란 말을 할수 있다. 안녕이란 말은 행복한 말이기도 하고 외로운 말이라고 생각한다. 나는 힘든사람에게 나만의 행복한 순간을 전달해주고, 행복한 사람에게 더 행복한 소식을 나누어 줄수 있는…그들에게 소리없는 말을 전달할수 있는 전세계적인 단어가 헬로우라고 생각한다.

헬로우란 단어를 통해,

사람들의 Life moment, 그들의 행복했던 life event를 작품을 통해 공유하고 싶다.

1.        각 지인들에게 그들이 생각했었던 행복한 순간, 힘들었던 순간, 영상 또한 사진 등등을 수집 및 조합하여 작품 발표 예정

2.        또한 내가 사진 찍을 예정
